Childhood Ailments: Chronic Cough

Cystic Fibrosis

This is a hereditary disorder that affects the entire body and causes progressive disability, with coughing as one of the commonly observed symptoms. Sadly, kids are the usual victims of cystic fibrosis. Wheezing, persistent coughs and chronic lung and sinus infections are some of the discomforts endured by those suffering from cystic fibrosis.

Parents must pay close attention whenever their children are having recurrent bouts of coughing. Some symptoms that coughing is more than just the usual childhood cough is when the coughing progresses over several days, the child is having difficulty breathing, and the cough does not go away when the usual cough treatments are administered.
