Unless you might have been residing below a rock, you have to have heard of the herb known as ginkgo biloba. The herb is hugely employed these days and its reputation is rising day by day. You’ll find it everywhere- in form of tablets or capsules, liquid extracts, teas, skin goods, fruit smoothies, nutritional dietary supplements, endurance formulas and even nutrition bars. But what exactly is in this herb which is surrounded by so much hype? Does this actually live up to all of the medical benefits and health-related claims advertised by firms, endorsed by experts and also prescribed by physicians?

Testing for DNA is one of the most up-to-date methods used to map genetic irregularities as well as inherited diseases. They can be done at various stages in one’s life. The earliest of which is before birth while the baby is still inside the womb, physicians can take out a chorionic villus sample to ascertain if the unborn child of a couple with familial history of Trisomy 21 is afflicted with the same disorder. DNA testing can also be done shortly after birth, as in the case of Newborn Screening, to identify if infants have genetic diseases which can affect their quality of life in the future. By spotting these genetic abnormalities earlier on in life, the life-threatening sequelae of disorders such as phenylketonuria can be ameliorated or prevented.
