Doctors are an important part of everyone’s health plan. They are integral to the health of our global population. Actually, doctors are responsible for our species remaining on this earth. This may seem overly dramatic, but think about it. The bad guys such as bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi outnumber us by the billions. The little devils are everywhere you look. They adapt beautifully to whatever environment they find themselves in. They are cruel beyond the imagination of us mere homo sapiens. They have no clue what they are doing to the world and couldn’t care less.

There was a time when chronic pain treatment meant only two things. The first is having to take pain medication to make the pain go away or at least make it tolerable. If the pain recurs or continues to persist, then pain medication has to be taken all over again. The second is to undergo surgery. Removing or remedying the cause of the pain is always a logical option. However, surgery does not always guarantee that the pain will not return. Also, a vast majority of people and pain management doctors view surgery as a last resort because of post operative pain and possible complications.

Some people suffer from a chronic pain condition called fibromyalgia which is characterized by bouts of pain, general fatigue and soreness on different parts of the body. Even with chronic pain management, fibromyalgia patients are in constant war with pain. People with fibromyalgia sometimes have good days. These are the days when pain is minimal and they can do normal activities. Sometimes, there are bad days as well. These are days when the pain is debilitating. The pain is so bad that getting out of bed would be out of the question. Having to live with that condition is tough even just to imagine.

Honestly, this is an issue that seems to be constantly under debate. Many people feel that losing weight even if it requires starvation is the key to health while others feel that you can be overweight and healthy if you are eating the right foods and the right number of calories.

These negative effects include addiction, pain medication tolerance, liver damage and stomach ulcers. This is the reason why researchers and pain management specialists are searching high and low for better ways to handle and manage chronic pain.

Millions of people, including children, suffer from chronic pain. Pain management specialists are continuously looking for better ways to manage chronic pain. Even with the availability of various effective pain killers, pain management doctors prefer methods that use less medication because of the negative side effects that pain killers usually cause. This is true especially in cases of chronic pain since the use of pain killers would necessarily be over a longer period of time and the damage to the body due to pain killer side effects would be proportionality greater.
